Centre Passerelle, in northern Ontario, serves Francophone women over the age of 16. The not-for-profit organization is run by women and is committed to ensuring the safety of all women and children in the community.

The intent of the design was first and foremost to create a safe and secure environment that would meet the needs of women escaping violence and abuse. In addition to private rooms, the shelter contains comfortable living spaces with warm colours and contemporary furnishings in an open-concept area filled with natural light. The work space for staff is separated from the living space and includes a reception and interview area, as well as three private offices.

The 10-bed shelter is located in a residential neighbourhood and is fully accessible to individuals with disabilities. There are interior and exterior play areas for children and added security features such as motion sensor lights and security cameras around the property to maintain the safety and peace of mind of guests.
