North Bay General Hospital

Project Details

Constructed to replace the old General Hospital, the new, three-storey North Bay Regional Health Centre boasts a larger emergency department with 32 treatment beds, a consolidated ambulatory care centre, and 275 acute-care beds. A new Mental Health Centre is linked to the hospital via a shared entrance and common area, and contains 52 forensic psychiatry beds, 61 specialized mental health beds, a client services mall, gymnasium, workshops, psychiatric offices, and outpatient services.

Working with ZW Group, our firm provided project management services including a full-time resident project manager, peer review, value engineering, project coordination, liaison with the prime architectural firm and hospital staff, and the coordination of “mock-up” rooms and system testing.

Since its opening, the Centre has significantly improved the quality of healthcare in Northeastern Ontario, and continues to provide a wide range of crucial medical services to the region.
