Developed through consultation with a Project Advisory Committee and the general public, the Town of Espanola’s Community Improvement Plan (CIP) seeks to pinpoint potential areas of improvement and provide tax assistance to support multiple residential, senior housing, and affordable housing projects within the community.
The completed CIP established a strategy for the revitalization of two commercial areas in the Town: the downtown core and the Highway 6 corridor. Incentives recommended in the CIP included assistance for façade improvements, signage, accessibility, parking and landscaping improvements, and architectural and engineering designs. Our firm developed guidelines that built on the Town’s strategic location along a transportation corridor, in addition to its community festivals and local culture. As it is implemented, it is expected the CIP will bring additional and sustainable economic activity to Espanola.
The CIP was adopted by Council and the Town continues to accept applications from local businesses and property owners.
