Clean Manufacturing and Processing Facilities
Through years of experience working with a broad range of clients in the food processing, pharmaceutical and semi-conductor industries, JLR has developed significant expertise in the design of clean manufacturing and processing facilities. The expertise was initially an outgrowth of our work in bio-containment and radiation-containment laboratories, where cascading contaminant containment, strict temperature and humidity control, and the use of durable/cleanable surfaces are critical elements of the facility design.

Energy & Utilities
The generation of electrical energy can take many forms, whether it is traditional hydro or diesel power generation, or newer forms, such as solar, wind, or cogeneration. We help our clients supplement or enhance their changing electrical generation requirements, and over our years in business, we have helped many clients define these requirements to ensure there is sufficient electricity available for their specific needs.
JLR has the necessary knowledge and personnel to deliver projects of any scale, whether it is a small diesel generator used to back up critical operations, or a large multi-generator hydro application to increase output capacity. Hydroelectric energy is a long-standing and important renewable resource in Ontario, and its generation accounts for more than one-third of the province’s electrical energy. Plant operators recognize the importance of hydroelectric generation in the province, and many utilize the full consulting services JLR offers.
We have the capacity and experience required to retrofit and upgrade hydroelectric stations to increase generating, including the design of a replacement program for aging turbines. JLR employs an integrated team approach to land development in urban, rural and regional settings for both public and private sector clients. Working closely with our client, and our land development, municipal infrastructure and architectural groups, we rigorously assess existing land uses, development options, planning policies and rationales, local sensitivities, economic constraints, public input, and regulatory standards to formulate the optimum development solution. The JLR team then assists our clients in making their land development ideas become a reality.
Land development means altering or developing land through land use activities including, but not limited to, grading, soil removal/remediation, construction, shoreline stabilization, alteration to watercourses, extraction of aggregates, and clearing woodlots or forested areas. Landowners who want to alter or develop land are also required, by law, to address public concerns about how their proposed development could affect the environment and cultural heritage resources. JLR has a comprehensive understanding of material handling first principles. This allows us to provide alternative approaches to handling practices, which helps to maximize both long and short term savings, longevity and output. Our experience with material handling extends far beyond the limits of surface facilities and encompasses those applications common to the unique challenges of underground mining activities.
