Project Details

This AMP, with a 10 year horizon, included water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities. Preparation of the AMP was partially funded through the Province of Ontario Municipal Infrastructure Investment Initiative, which required municipalities in Ontario to complete an AMP. The AMP document was based on the “Building Together: Guide for Municipal Asset Management Plan”, prepared by the Ontario Ministry of Infrastructure. By completing the AMP, the Township of Bonnechere Valley became eligible for future infrastructure funding programs.

In addition to all water distribution and sewer system infrastructure, both the water treatment plant and sewage treatment plant and related works were included in the plan. The municipally owned Eganville Arena and Community Centre were also included in the AMP.

Major components of the AMP included an executive summary, introduction, state of local infrastructure, infrastructure report card, desired levels of service, asset management strategy, financing strategy, and a summary of recommendations. Fundamental to the success of this project was the use of background information, including public sector accounting board and tangible capital asset reports, the Township’s strategic plan, Cartegraph Maintenance Management System information, VADIM financial records, GIS data, and prior condition assessment and strategy reports. Interviews with senior Township staff and a workshop were also key components of this project.

The AMP was designed as a user-friendly framework document to allow the Township to do annual updates and incorporate other critical assets in the future such as roads, bridges, fleet vehicles, parks and recreation infrastructure, and other municipal buildings.
