A newly commissioned 760MW pulverized coal wall-fired power boiler in the UK had burners that were not meeting performance guarantees. In addition, two previous iterations of the burners originally supplied by others were burning up (thermally melting) within six months of operation. Working with a primary process design partner, the Industrial team executed the mechanical design of the new low NOx burner.
The team worked in close collaboration with the burner supplier and their laboratory testing facilities in the UK to ensure that the new burner design would meet performance guarantees as well as maintain operability of the units. The burners passed guarantee testing and had four years of clean operation until the plant was decommissioned.
