GUELPH – J.L. Richards & Associates Limited (JLR) is proud to announce Jane Wilson, M.Sc., P.Eng., as one of the recipients of the Canadian Consulting Engineer’s Top 10 Under 40 Awards program. This award recognizes the top 10 engineers working in Canada as consultants in the construction field under 40 years of age.

Jane is an accomplished professional in the field of engineering and planning at JLR in her role as Municipal Infrastructure & Planning Market Chief. She started her career at JLR as an Environmental Engineering Intern. Jane grew to become the Guelph office Civil, Environmental & Planning Manager and was recently promoted to Market Chief. In her current role, she is responsible for one of JLR’s largest markets and is a driving force for municipal infrastructure and planning for clients seeking to sustainably meet the current and future needs of the communities she serves.

While embracing and promoting the importance of safe and reliable infrastructure in communities, Jane possesses a deep understanding of JLR’s business and culture, along with exceptional skills in business development and project delivery. Her commitment to JLR clients, along with her dedication to creating an environment where staff can excel in their careers, sets Jane apart from her industry peers. Jane is passionate about employee onboarding, mentorship, and leadership while promoting the importance of work-life balance at JLR. She values employees’ time and supports local businesses by encouraging social gatherings and community engagement. Jane played a role in allocating a portion of JLR’s budget to fund social activities for employees and invest in local community events.

As a woman in a male-dominated profession, Jane is committed to advancing gender diversity in leadership and supports JLR’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. Outside of JLR, she was one of the founding members of Women in Ontario in Water, a professional group that creates networking opportunities for women in the water industry. Through this group, Jane has made valuable professional connections that continue to grow. In 2021, Jane served as the Chair of the PEO Grand River Chapter, where she was instrumental in starting a local chapter of Engineers Canada 30 by 30. This initiative is aimed at increasing the percentage of newly licensed female engineers to 30% by 2030. She is active in other professional associations, including Association of Canadian Engineering Companies and the Water Environment Association of Ontario.

Jane’s career path has inspired her colleagues and industry professionals that it is possible to achieve anything you set your mind to. JLR is honoured to have her as a valuable member of our team. Congratulations to Jane on this major, well-deserved accomplishment!
