As the Director of Structural Engineering, you’ll be the visionary force behind the Structural Discipline—driving innovation, setting best practices, and shaping a high-performance team. Your role will include:
Leadership and Management Aspects:
- Leading and planning the development and expansion of the technical knowledge of staff company-wide in the Structural Discipline to meet technical, marketing, and project delivery needs, including individual training plans and goals.
- Ensuring back up and succession for the duties and expertise represented in the Structural Discipline across all markets.
- Leading the implementation of strategies to allow for consistent delivery across projects and markets.
- Coaching employees, including both formal and informal training and mentoring.
- Working with Managers and Market Directors to build teams aligned with market and geographical trends and demands to support key pursuits.
- Working collaboratively with other stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes for the entire organization as a member of the leadership team.
- Fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages professional growth and development among all team members.
- Managing conflicting priorities with respect to resource allocation and workload prioritization.
- Building the company’s capabilities to attract, develop, and retain staff, and implementing systems to ensure that appropriate staff are deployed on projects.
- Participating in industry events, conferences, and networking activities to promote the firm’s expertise and capabilities.
Technical Aspects:
As the foremost leader in the Structural Discipline, engaging through all project stages, from definition, through planning, design, and construction using your demonstrated abilities to recognize opportunities, understand client needs and manage and deliver projects.
- Staying abreast of industry and technology trends.
- Providing technical leadership and support on the most complex of our assignments.
- Ensuring that appropriate QA/QC procedures are followed.
- Coordinating with other leaders in engineering, architecture, and planning on multidisciplinary projects.
- Providing direction to delivery teams on project risk management and mitigation.
