Client: Utilities Kingston
Location: Kingston, Ontario
JLR was retained by Utilities Kingston (UK) to design a highly sustainable facility, resulting in obtaining LEED Silver certification. Emphasis was placed on concrete, metal, and glass as primary finishes for the building elevations. The site and building were designed to reflect the industrial nature of UK’s business while emphasizing its corporate identity.
Under City of Kingston’s policy, all large municipal building and retrofit projects must be constructed to the LEED standard. These standards ensure that new City buildings maximize energy efficiency, provide the highest quality of indoor working environment, and minimizes any building’s burden on the natural environment and long-term operating budgets.
