École secondaire catholique Élisabeth Bruyère et École élémentaire catholique Ste-Anne is a new school for elementary and secondary students. At the outset, our staff assisted CSCFN with a rigorous site selection process, land acquisition and zoning confirmations, as well as various issues related to existing site conditions. JLR then worked with CSCFN, the Town of Mattawa, and local interest groups to produce the design. The building incorporates the town’s historic elements while balancing modern sensibilities and requirements.
JLR acted as Prime Consultant to provide multi-disciplinary design and contract administration services. Our firm also provided the demolition design for the former Mattawa General Hospital buildings and the old Ste-Anne school building on the site. JLR utilized a phased approach to both the demolition of the old facilities and the construction of the new one. The new school is energy-efficient and welcoming, and fits in with the picturesque historic community.
The state-of-the-art facility, located on the site of the old Ste. Anne school, houses students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12, along with a full-time daycare. The design creates a positive learning environment and maximizes shared space efficiencies, while maintaining distinctive spaces for both the elementary and secondary schools. The former hospital grounds now serve as an athletic field.
