JLR partnered with Alta Planning + Design Canada to conduct a feasibility assessment, generate and evaluate design options, and prepare a preliminary design for incorporating cycle tracks and sidewalks into an 8 km section of Jane Street, from north of Highway 7 to Teston Road. JLR’s efforts included focusing on developing plans to fit unidirectional and bi-directional cycle track options into the existing right-of-way and through the intersections of this major arterial. The goal was to provide an all-ages and abilities facility that reflects latest best practice for safety and user comfort, while minimizing impacts to existing features (utilities, transit stops, trees, light standards, etc.) and adjacent private properties. JLR was also responsible for the quantification of these impacts and costing of the preliminary design.
