The successful candidate will work as part of a team to manage the flow of engineering deliverables to and from our clients. They will also be responsible for assisting Project Managers with tracking budgets and schedules for ongoing projects and ensuring that established quality control processes are being followed for submissions. Roles and Responsibilities:

Resident Site Inspector/Contract Administrator – Contract Position

JLR is seeking qualified candidates to the fill the role of Resident Site Inspector/Contract Administrator on a contract basis for a project in southwestern Ontario. The successful candidate will be based out of JLR’s Guelph office with the project location within a one hour drive. The contract duration is expected to be a minimum of four months with the possibility of extension up to six months depending on the construction schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the administration of the construction contract as JLR’s representative on-site;
  • Liaise with the Project Owner’s representative and site staff, Contractor, and JLR design team;
  • Attend construction meetings and prepare minutes;
  • Maintain up-to-date tracking spreadsheets/summaries for contract correspondence, change orders, payment certificates, and requests for information (RFI);
  • Prepare and issue RFI responses and contract changes. Meet with the Contractor’s representatives as required to resolve pricing, extra work claims, and conflicts;
  • Prepare daily site observation reports;
  • Monitor construction progress and schedule and prepare monthly summary reports;
  • Review shop drawings for general conformance with construction contract documents;
  • Review Contractor invoices and preparation of monthly progress claims for submission to Owner; and
  • Other duties as required to fulfill JLR’s role on the project.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • 5 – 10 years of experience is required in the field of construction or related engineering services, with demonstrated experience in construction contract administration;
  • College diploma in an Architectural or Engineering technology program or training in a related construction trade;
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience providing construction site inspection and contract administration services on a variety of building projects;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of a variety of building systems, construction materials, and construction methods;
  • Experience using MS Office suite of applications;
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills are required;
  • Experience communicating and working with a variety of project stakeholders to provide construction updates, answer questions, and resolve challenges in a partnered approach;
