Duties include the following: 

  • Drafting employment letters;
  • Coordinating procedures for employee hiring, transfers and terminations;
  • Ensuring that new employees have received complete onboarding and orientation;

JLR’s Ottawa office is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Manager of Administration and Human Resources. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in the management or direct supervision of administrative staff.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, the Manager of Administration and Human Resources will be responsible for directly supervising the administrative and HR staff in the Ottawa office. Responsibilities include overseeing / balancing staff workload; ensuring coordination between various departments and sub-groups; using sound judgment to handle personnel issues; and advancing the capabilities and efficient functioning of the administrative group. In addition, the Manager of Administration and Human Resources will lend assistance, as necessary, to regional office managers tasked with the same responsibilities in their respective offices.

The Manager of Administration and Human Resources is directly accountable for furthering a sound strategy of collaborative workflow between the administrative staff. This may include lending overall guidance to professional development and training. The successful candidate will be comfortable liaising with staff in IT, accounting, and in technical disciplines (engineering, architecture and planning) and will be an effective facilitator of communication between departments.

Duties include the following:

  • Reviewing and approving timesheets;
  • Handling personnel issues for the staff under your supervision;
  • Recommending professional development where appropriate;
  • Assisting with the implementation of technology solutions for administrative functions;
  • Overseeing Human Resources and Health & Safety functions;
