Civil/Municipal Engineer

JLR is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Intermediate Civil/Municipal Engineer with 4 to 8 years of related experience. The successful candidate will work in our Ottawa office on municipal infrastructure rehabilitation type projects.

 Responsibilities will include:

  • Engineering design, project management and contract administration related to municipal projects, including roads, watermains, sanitary and storm sewer systems.
  • Carrying out visits to construction sites and reporting on observations.
  • Assisting Senior Civil Engineers with project execution, including design and report writing.
  • Preparation of proposals and budget estimates.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Supervising Engineers-in-Training and technologists.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Must have a degree in Civil Engineering with an Ontario P. Eng. designation (or eligibility to receive it in the following year).
  • 4 to 8 years of related Civil/Municipal Engineering experience.
  • Well-developed computer and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication both orally and in written form.
  • Highly self-motivated and a self-starter.

The candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working within an architect’s office;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2014, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (English is a must, and French is advantageous);
  • Self-motivated and ambitious with the ability to work independently;

As an integral part of our Municipal Engineering Group, you are a self-starter with a keen interest in learning to improve your abilities and build on your educational and practical experience.

 Responsibilities will include:

  • Working with a Civil/Municipal project team in various aspects of design;
  • Working directly with other personnel as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary project team;
  • Engineering design and contract administration related to municipal projects, including site development, roads, watermains, sanitary and storm sewer systems. Duties will encompass the municipal, commercial, land development and mining/industrial sectors;
  • Preparing proposals, reports, specifications and budget estimates;
  • Business development and client liaison; and
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Must have a degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University;
  • Registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO);
  • 5 to 8 years of related Civil Engineering experience;
  • Well-developed computer and analytical skills;
  • Effective communication both orally and in written form. French language proficiency would be considered an asset;
